He resigned from cabinet last November over the Ottawa-Alberta pipeline deal, and left Parliament for good this September.
We're sitting down with him for a "fireside exit interview": a real conversation about what got done, what didn't, and what he'd do differently. To be recorded live in partnership with Protect Our Winters (POW) Canada at its 2026 Leadership Summit.

About Steven Guilbeault:
Guilbeault was first elected as the Member of Parliament for Laurier-Sainte-Marie in 2019 and served as Minister of Environment and Climate Change from 2021–2025. He has previously served as Minister of Canadian Heritage. In 1993, Guilbeault co-founded Équiterre, the largest environmental organization in Quebec, and served as its Senior Director from 2008 to 2018. He also worked as a Director and Campaign Manager for Greenpeace, and was a Strategic Advisor for more than 10 years at Cycle Capital Management, a Canadian fund dedicated to the development of clean technologies. Guilbeault has worked for Deloitte & Touche as well as Copticom, a consulting firm specializing in the green and social economy.

With a PhD in physics from the University of Geneva she has worked at both McKinsey & Company as a management consultant, and the Pembina Institute where she founded Business Renewable Centre Canada. Dr. Hasting-Simon is now a professor at the University of Calgary where she co-leads the Electricity Centre. She has a particular interest in the dynamics of the mid-transition, a concept she co-developed.
Ed Whittingham is a Canadian climate and energy leader with more than 25 years of experience across public policy, clean technology, corporate strategy, and the non-profit sector. He is the former Executive Director of the Pembina Institute and has worked with governments, companies, universities, and civil society organizations in Canada and internationally on complex climate and energy issues. Today, his work focuses on helping build and scale climate stabilizing solutions. He serves as Founding Director of the Advance Carbon Removal Coalition.
